The bar referred to in the above-posted link is Mac’s Public House, located in Staten Island, NY. The owner of Mac’s Public House has refused to shut his bar down as per the illegitimate COVID shutdown mandates, and has also refused to pay the hefty fines issued by the oh-so loving tyrants that run both New York City, Bill De Blasio(whose daughter admitted that Joe Biden stole the 2020 Election) and New York State, Andew Cuomo. Essentially, the owner of Mac’s Public House is practicing civil disobedience, something that is in short supply in not only the U.S., this author’s home country, but the entire world too. Although the owner is using a legal loophole by offering his drinks and food for free while asking for a donation by customers, at least he is one of the few brave souls practicing civil disobedience, something humanity must practice far far more to avoid living under totalitarian tyranny.
Finally, resistance to illegitimate government abuses of power is being executed, and no one better to do so than the citizens and taxpayers themselves, those who the over-lionized Governor Andrew Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio would call privately, if not ever in open, the peons, the slaves, the little people who they think they can boss around with all kinds of unconstitutional and tyrannical mandates.
As Benjamin Franklin said “Those who give up liberty for security deserve neither, and will receive neither”. This is exactly what all these atrocious COVID-19 lockdowns are, especially as absolutely none of them have no legitimacy or authority granted from the U.S. Constitution. Furthermore, all these mandates violate liberty, which therefore means that they violate the very purpose of The Law as philosopher Frederic Bastiat rightly explains – protect fundamental individual liberties AT ALL COSTS, whether we have a massively overexaggerated COVID-19 pandemic or not. The job of every single politician is to protect liberty at all costs and to make sure that government, otherwise known as the legalized monopoly on violence in any given civilization, respects its boundaries – which in the U.S. is the Constitution, which sadly has been trashed and violated far too egregiously. This entire overexaggerated pandemic has revealed the failure of nearly every U.S. state and federal politician, as well as essentially all politicians around the world, to do their jobs – protect individual liberties AT ALL COSTS.
Especially as the police and the courts, the latter of which is meant to be the people’s safeguard against abusive governors and other executives who flagrantly violate their constitutional boundaries, fail to fulfill their duties at the people’s expense(beyond just simple taxation a.k.a. legalized theft), the only ones remaining to push all these tyrant governors and mayors back in line are the people themselves – if that statement is incorrect, who else will do it?
This author grew up learning that civil disobedience is a fundamental and proud element of U.S., American, culture. Is that no longer true? Hopefully not, especially as governments, on almost every level whether local, state, or federal(sadly including other countries too) continue to become more tyrannical and liberty continues to shrink, as does the prospects of the survival of civilization. If U.S. culture and civilization are to truly have any chance to avoid going the same way as the Greek & Roman Empires, total demise, then let’s pray that many, many, many others take inspiration from the owner of Mac’s Public House and help amplify civil disobedience, both in the United States and everywhere else.
