Moral & Ethical Degradation – Jack Del Rio attacked for Free Speech

On June 12th, 2022, Jack Del Rio, defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders National Football League(NFL) team, was fined $100,000 by the team for exercising his free speech right to compare the January 6th, 2021 protest to the Black Lives Matter riots across several cities in the United States(US) during the summer of 2020. Del Rio rightly pointed out that he merely questioned why the riots during the summer of 2020 are rarely ever discussed, especially as the horrific and destructive events that they truly were, while the relatively peaceful protest on January 6th, 2021 gets media coverage ad nauseam as the most horrific attack on American soil since the Civil War. This is a fantastic question, and even if it wasn’t, it is still Del Rio’s fundamental right to bring this question up; others are welcome to simply answer or ignore it. Instead, they choose to punish him, and not even in a reasonable and light way like a verbal reprimand and warning, but with a $100,000 fine that the vast majority of people don’t make in one year of work, of course excluding taxes. The reason this story matters is that it is a microcosm that represents the overall moral and ethical degradation of the United States. Moral and ethical degradation almost inevitably leads to the decline and end of liberty, and of civilization; this is certainly true regarding the trajectory of decline that the United States is following. Furthermore, it is the openness and welcoming of debate and civil discourse that made Western civilization unique, and thereby the most prosperous and peaceful humanity has ever achieved; this is declining rapidly as of the time of this writing with all the attacks and also outright censorship of those brave enough to either disagree with or even question the popular beliefs and narratives. In a different but related and relevant case, British doctor Malcolm Kendrick explained, the attacks and harassment he has received for the falsification of the alleged COVID-19 global pandemic have essentially killed the Scientific Method, marking the end of the 400 year lifespan of the Enlightenment, one of humanity’s greatest achievement, and ushering in the new Dark Ages. Here is the concluding quote from Kendrick’s essay: The [scientific method of] Francis Bacon and the Enlightenment, lasted from 1620 to 2020. 400 years of immense scientific progress. The age of enlightenment. We are moving back to the prevailing systems of thought… to fanciful guessing and the mere citing of authorities to establish truths of science. The Dark Ages are returning.

While a $100,000 fine is a fraction of Del Rio’s gross salary, which exceeds well over $1,000, it is still immoral and unethical for him to have to pay such a fine. What could morally or ethically justify such a fine? He wasn’t exercising invalid free speech, such as calling for any violence, falsely accusing others of crimes, or even anything extreme like broadcasting pictures of nude children. Instead, he was merely asking a question that casts hesitation and skepticism on a popularly accepted belief, that the January 6th, 2021 protest on the fraudulent 2020 election was a riot intended to topple the U.S. government, when nothing could be further from the truth. While the Washington Commanders team likely has a right to set its policy as it likes, which includes the right to fine Del Rio, an employee, for speech that the team doesn’t approve, assuming these are clearly stated and explained in the employment contract(and or perhaps other contracts) that Del Rio signed, it is immoral and unethical for the team to issue that fine, because there was no immoral and unethical action taken by Del Rio to warrant that fine. While it is imperative for all fundamental individual rights, such as the Commanders’ right to fine Del Rio, to be protected AT ALL COSTS in order to ensure the survival and continuity of both liberty and civilization, it is equally as important for a society to exercise high moral and ethical quality in its actions. Why it matters in this case is that it not only makes Del Rio wrongly look like a bad, in addition to promoting the falsehood of January 6th, but it discourages others from even questioning the official narrative, as Del Rio did, for fear of unwarranted reprisals.

Although Del Rio later apologized for his remarks that got him fined, it is imperative to consider the strong possibility that he was somehow bullied or pressured into making that apology. While this author can’t prove this possibility, it is up to others to disprove the strong possibility that perhaps Del Rio was threatened to be fired from the Commanders team, and quite possibly every other team in the NFL, unless he apologized. If he really was bullied in this manner, then it not only demonstrates that he doesn’t mean his apology, especially considering he shouldn’t have to, but that moral and ethical degradation truly is rampant in U.S. civilization, and all other civilizations, as of the time of this writing. Threatening Del Rio with his career, while it may be within the rights of the Washington Commanders and NFL, would be unethical, because none of Del Rio’s actions were unethical to thereby warrant such a threat.

When people are unwilling to learn and accept the truth, and when those willing to question the truth and/or expose the falsehoods are castigated, civilization doesn’t last. This is very much the case with not only the United States, but the entire world, where the truth on critical matters, such as the rampant corruption across all the world’s governments and the major lies the governments across the world promote on the people, like 9/11 and the falsified COVID pandemic, is suppressed and those willing to speak up become victimized. Because the vast majority of people, both in the United, States and in all other countries, fail to learn and accept the truth and all too easily succumb to the lies promoted by the governments, moral and ethical degradation, rather than liberty, is prevailing in all civilizations across the world as of the time of this writing. Moral and ethical degradation is accelerating, not just in the Western World, but in nearly all other parts of the world too, as Del Rio’s fine demonstrates as a microcosmic example. As such, the critical forecast of this blog is that moral and ethical degradation will continue in nearly all of the world’s civilizations today, which will eventually bring about the ultimate demise of both liberty and civilization throughout the world. Nobody alive today can say they weren’t warned, and at least posterity will know that some people, such as this author, despite being in the minority, were willing to sound the warning bell and emphasize that restoring moral and ethical degradation will be the key to one day rebuilding liberty and civilization.
